Debt Counselling Training

RUDO is licenced by The National Credit Regulator to provide Debt Counselling Training as per The National Credit Act passed by Parliament on 15 March 2006.

The Debt Counselling qualification consists of nine (9) modules delivered virtually, through Zoom. Learners receive an integrated learning that includes virtual training, assessments and exit examination. Upon being declared competent the learner will receive a competency certificate and learner can proceed and register with NCR to be a Debt Counsellor. The duration of training is spread over a period of three (3) months and training will be held quarterly on the following dates:

1. 10th March – 9th May 2025
2. 9th June – 8th August 2025
3. 8th September – 7th November 2025

Course duration and method of delivery
The Debt Counselling qualification consists of nine (9) modules delivered virtually, through Zoom. Learners receive an integrated learning that includes virtual training over a 2-month period. The total classroom learning consists of ten (10). For the rest of the period, learners will self-study and do their assignment and assessments.

Assessment and Examination
Competency will be assessed through formative assessment based on completion of a Workbook, daily assignments, and input and performance in class which will require a fair amount of studying and practice. There is a practical assignment which comprises of a case study based on a specific NCA topic covered in the learning material. Learners will also write a three-hour mock examination as preparation of the final examination. Finally, you will write a three-hour, open book examination at the end of the training program, dates will be provided.

Certification
A learner who has achieved the status of competence shall be certified by RUDO Consulting and issued a certificate in accordance with the terms and conditions of the National Credit Regulator.

Pre-entry requirements
The program is targeted at individuals who have a:

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF level 4 qualifications.
  • Minimum of two years working experience in any of protection, complaints resolution or consumer advisory services, Legal or Para-legal services, Educating or training individuals, Counselling of individuals, General business environment
  • Should not be under Debt Review
